Tools and Hardware Reviews of Delta SM105WS Shopmaster Miter Saw StandCustomer Review: Great value but not perfect. Summary: 5 Stars
I just got mine and after about 10 mins to setup the stand and add my saw i realize that this was a great stand.
I have a Hitachi C8FB2 i think it is the only saw out there that has a 3 bolt mounting system - kind of like a triangle. Most other miter stands have 2 very narrow rails to mount the saw on - which is fine for saws with 4 hole mounting systems. however, i had to have a piece of plywood in in between my saw and the mount rails. this saw has fairly wide mounting rails and after getting the 2 front bolts in the saw it isn't even moving. of course i had to make my own mounting holes - but the top is wood - perfect for this application. i may disasemble the hole mounting rail/brackets and mount the hardware to my old plywood base for my saw for a more custom fit but i do not NEED to which is a great thing for some.
i really wanted a Dewalt stand - the price didn't bother me for quality equipment. however the lenght of the folded stand did - it is over 6 feet long and my truck bed is only 63" long, so the stand would never fit and i am not leaving it strapped to the roof rack to be stolen. for others out there with short beds i am sure you understand my reasoning. however this stand is alittle over 4' and fits with plenty of room to spare. even takes up less room then my old HTC PM4400 stand
i don't like the idea that the mounting brackets are plastic but for the price of this unit($69) i will make my own when they fail. The stand itself is very sturdy and i love the design of the roller arm and stop arms b/c they work very well. I have a HTC unit that i am replacing with this b/c it is too big and the wheels have bent and it is way to heavy to carry by a handle. I may replace another HTC on my other crews truck when it gets as bad as my old one with one of these, b/c this will be easier to transport onsite due to its size.
Overall Good Stand & Great Value.
