Tools and Hardware Reviews of Delta Faucet 470-SS Signature Single-Handle Kitchen Pull-Out Faucet, StainlessCustomer Review: A Poorly Engineered Disaster Summary: 1 Stars
Everything about this faucet shows poor engineering design and execution. I have had problems with this faucet soon after it was installed (by a plumber) 3 years ago. First, the faucet would not swivel from side to side because the copper water lines from the faucet worked their way out of the silly M-bracket used for installation. Then, it became difficult to turn the faucet off all the way (one had to angle the handle about 15 degrees off-center to stop the flow of water). Learning via the Web that this is a problem with Delta faucets, I attempted to remove the handle to clean inside and replace some parts. No going--the small screw holding the faucet handle on was impossible to move with Allen wrenches and I had to drill it out, thereby ruining the handle (to their credit, Delta was very apologetic and shipped a replacement handle to me when I called them). This too, I learned from other owners, is a problem with Delta faucets. After a short while, the failure to completely shut off re-appeared and I was back to square one, having to take diligent care to place the handle at just the right turn off-center to stop the water flow. After a while I just got tired of this expensive piece of junk and just bought a Kohler ( KOHLER K-596-VS Simplice Single-Hole Pull-down Kitchen Faucet, Vibrant Stainless ), and installed it myself. The only problem I had was removing the Delta, which seems to have been designed to be difficult to remove (e.g., special cone wrench required for special nut holding it on, etc.). Save yourself a headache and go with another brand, at least for your kitchen faucet.
Customer Review: Plastic Clip broke free flooding cabinet after 13 months use. Summary: 1 Stars
The faucet works fine, but the under-counter spray connection gave away after 13 months causing it to flood under the cabinet when the faucet is turned on. This is a small plastic clip that connects the under-handle brass threaded pipe to the flexible hose that runs up to the spray head. There is no movement at this point of the connection - yet it gave away. After re-inserting the clip, it pops free when full water pressure is on. The plastic seems to have weakend over time and cannot stay in place under pressure. All the good of this faucet is totally negated by the cheap connector breaking free and flooding the base cabinet. I cannot recommend this faucet to anyone.
Customer Review: I hated this faucet immediately, and it's just gotten worse. Summary: 1 Stars
The design of this faucet is attractive, but it's very awkward to angle to clean a sink thoroughly. From the beginning some of the sprayer openings were tweaked in random directions. It has a lifetime warrantee, but I was living with it because I didn't want to pay for another visit from my plumber. It was installed in January, and suddenly the pressure is poor. If there's a kink I can't find it, but it looks like I'm going to have to spring for the plumber. Feh. Now I have to find out if their warrantee service works better than this faucet.
