DELTA SM100M Shopmaster 13 Amp 10-Inch Compound Miter saw by Delta
Product DetailsManufacturer: Delta Model: SM100M Accessories:
Description of DELTA SM100M Shopmaster 13 Amp 10-Inch Compound Miter sawThe Delta SM100M 13 amp 10-inch compound miter saw delivers plenty of cutting power with its 13 amp motor. The large sliding fence accommodates cuts into extra-wide wood, and the table pivots to 47 degrees on left and right angles for trickier cuts, with stops at 0, 22.5, and 45 degrees. The blade itself tilts from -3 to 48 degrees for bevel cuts, and you can set blade and table pivots to keep crown moldings flat while you cut them. The blade tilt lets you cut material as much as 5.875 inches wide. The 3.5-inch height of the base lets you pair it up with a 2-by-4 put on its end to create a job site work table for cutting longer pieces. The pre-drilled fence also lets you mount wood auxiliary fences for taller work pieces. This saw weighs only 28 pounds thanks to its aluminum-alloy material, and it comes with a dust bag so you won't be coughing for minutes after cutting your material.
Tools and Hardware Reviews of DELTA SM100M Shopmaster 13 Amp 10-Inch Compound Miter sawCustomer Review: Great for novice/light work Summary: 5 Stars
This was my first real power tool, and an absolute bargin! My review echos the other comments. I made some angled cuts for window moulding (no beveled cuts yet), but I've mostly used it to cut 2x4s, even stacked. I built a stand for it so long pieces don't fall off after cutting if not clamped down (I wish the clamps would have been included). The nice part about the stand, or even if you only use this on the floor, is that the width of a 2x4 on its side is the same height as the deck, so just some scrap wood can help keep the wood in place during the cut (but maybe this is common to all miter saws). Sawdust - I didn't even attach the dustbag based on the other reviews, but rather hooked my shopvac up to the port with an adaptor and hose clamp, which helps alot. A laser guide would be nice, but hardly crucial - just bring the saw down to your line before firing it up. I would only trade this for a sliding miter as the actual cut is about 5.5", so anything wider and you have to flip the piece and align it to the previous cut.
