Description of DELTA 36-650 10-Inch Professional Table Saw
Use this saw and fall in love. Well, maybe you aren't as passionate about your power tools as we are, but this saw really is a beauty. A hungry 1-1/2-horsepower induction motor provides all the power you need to rip through any hardwood. Because it's V-belt driven, you won't feel a hint of vibration in the ample cast-iron table. Steel extensions give you a full 40-1/2-by-27-inch table surface, but your work capacity is greater than that, thanks to the heavy-duty fence system that lets you rip up to 30 inches right of the blade. We really like the new see-through blade guard because it locks in the upright position when you're changing blades--and then it releases automatically when the insert is replaced. Clever! Delta's also come up with a nice auto-set miter gauge with positive stops at 45 and 90 degrees. This saw is an outstanding value. It is extremely heavy and solid so that cuts are true with virtually no vibration on the cast iron top, although some vibration is transmitted through the steel extensions. The trickiest part to set up is truing up the blade guard/splitter so that it is in line with the blade, but once that is done (hopefully not to many bruised knuckles), you should not have to worry about it again. The fence is solid and heavy duty and comes parallel to the blade right out of the box, although it will flex very slightly at the furthermost point from lock down, behind the blade. (You may be able to adjust this out, but I haven't figured out how, although you never put pressure at this point on the fence anyway.) I would suggest pitching the blade which comes with it and upgrade to the best quality blade you can afford. I am an advanced home hobbyist and this saw is perfect for my needs.
